To the thoughtful neighbor(s) who left me this note on the windshield of my car today in the pouring rain:
Thank you SO MUCH for your helpful suggestion. I will attend to it IMMEDIATELY.
Anything else you'd like me to attend to while I'm at it? Perhaps the color of my house is not to your liking?
And I really do appreciate you leaving the note on my car instead of knocking on my door and telling me in person. My psychiatrist says I need to avoid confrontation because I have serious anger management issues, even though I hardly ever act on my violent impulses.
Now, if you could excuse me, I must go fertilize my dandelions.
Your slightly disgruntled neighbor,
Petunia

Slightly disgruntled? I reckon you should funnel your disgruntled feelings into the strategic use of weedkiller on their lawn.
I don't know the names of weeds and if it were me, I would just come over and pull the damn weeds myself like I do in Margaret's yard. So one suspect eliminated!
he he he!!!!! BTW I do not have weeds - I only have remnants of someone's "eco-lawn".....
I don't remember dandy lions being part of the ecomix, so that don't fly.
I was at friends' one day, years ago, and noticed a HUGE Canadian thistle growing right outside their dining room window. The grounds around their home are otherwise beautifully kept, and I must have said something, because Paul explained: "We pulled it out, and it grew back, and we pulled it out, and it grew back. We couldn't get rid of it, so we just started watering it, to see what would happen."
What happened was it got about six feet tall, maybe 3 feet wide, and covered itself in gorgeous thistle blossoms.
I think that would be an appropriate course of action, don't you? (And while you're at it, tag them: "'CIRSIUM ARVENSE--Chardon des Champs' Botanical Specimen".)
Oh seriously - do you know who they are? Can you leave a note on their car in return? How f-ing passive agressive. That's made me cross on your behalf now!
Isn't there a website somewhere where you can post passive-aggressive notes?
That said, I understand their concern about weeds. But why couldn't they have talked to you in person.
I took some photos of some thistles in our nabe. They are actually amazing-looking plants, as long as you don't have to contend with their seedlings.
As a Canadian, I take exception to this :)
Seriously, the elitism of some folks perturbs me. And this is as elitist as it gets. I feel sorry for those among us who have nothing better to do with their lives than leave whiney little notes on their neighbors' cars.
I bet they go "cluck cluck" or "tsk tsk" as they peer through the cracked edges of the window shades at the below-their-standards conduct of their neighbors.
Some folks simply need to learn how to be nicer. I'm sorry you have suck sucky neighbors.
