welcome summer

Every week, Carmi over at the blog Written Inc., hosts an exercise called Thematic Photographic and invites everyone to join in. This week's theme ( No. 201) is called "Welcome Summer."

A couple of days ago Dave and I and a visiting friend loaded the pups in the car and took a drive out to the coast. The weather was warm, the sky was deep blue and cloudless, and the ocean sparkled like there were diamonds in the surf.

Later, we had lunch on the patio of a brewpub, and our outgoing friend shared an oyster shooter birthday toast with another patron.
It was a great way to welcome summer!
Now I suggest you hop on over to Written, Inc. to view Carmi's photos, and don't forget to check the comments for links to other photographic submissions.

Lovely beach!

I don't see many people in the water, though...too cold?

Yes! The Pacific ocean off the coast of Oregon is really cold all year-round!

This is a wonderful way to start the summer, C.P. I love to walk on the beach but don't do it much anymore since we moved 75 miles north to 100 miles away from the Galveston, Texas, beaches.

I remember walking on the Oregon beach near Warrenton and digging for clams. We never found any, neither did she.

I hope you find a lot of clams this summer, htank you for sharing.

Now that is what I call a beach!! And two lovely dogs, as well!

The Atlantic ocean isn't all that warm round here, either!

Thanks for commenting on my pics.

Lovely beach shots. Beaches are one of my favorite places. I just wish I lived close enough to one to go more often then the occasional vacation.
